Lifeboat drill at midnight...

At the stroke of midnight last night the ship's alarm bells went off. Not a nice sound to hear in the pitch dark and from a very sound sleep. The bells are the same as the fire alarm bells at school, very harsh! We were up and partially dressed before the sixth and last bell went. Sixth? What happened to the seventh and then the long one? Maybe its only for the crew? A corridor conference with heads and shoulders, some heads in pink hair coverings and some in blue, solved nothing other than a general consensus it was not "the big one".

The captain was shortly on the PA with an explanation; a smoking laundry machine had precipitated this procedure. It was hard to get back to sleep after your heart going so fast. Interesting to hear in the morning the various reactions people had....some went to their lifeboat stations, others never got out of bed, those who had their hearing aids out never knew it happened! The same reaction as on the Titanic I suppose.
